Increase the gasoline: this is how much more each family will pay.

A price hike on families: what happens to gasoline and how much we will have to spend. The weekly surveys of the Mite are highlighted.

The surge in gasoline prices does not stop, and there are the first major concerns for families. Seven years later, the Codacons complaints return, but not only.

To raise the alarm for the future of the pockets of people this time is also the Ministry of Ecological Transition, which certifies record rates. These numbers have not been seen since 2014.

The causes and consequences of these new positions are manifold and deserve detailed analysis. The overall situation thus draws a picture that can be reconstructed starting from the notifications of the National Consumers Union.

How much does unleaded petrol cost today?

The full tank of a petrol car in self-service mode has risen to 1,670 euros per litre, increasing 8.58 cents. Similar values were recorded only at the end of October 2014, when the prices for refuelling travelled on an average of 1.681 euros.

Therefore, there is an increase of 20% compared to the same period in 2020 and 15.1% more than at the beginning of the year. Therefore, the data reported by Carlo Rienzi show an increase of 14.1 euros between 2021 and 2020.

Side note: diesel price also rises with 1,516 euros per litre: the highest since May 2019.

The reasons for the increase and consumer complaints

We are used to thinking that fuel prices rise only in correspondence with the value of the raw material, oil, but the reality is different in this case.

This year, oil has gone from the lows of 18 dollars a barrel in March 2020 to 69.41 dollars today. Still, there is also an increased factor linked to tax issues since two-thirds of the cost of petrol and diesel are represented precisely by the variation of this parameter.

Also, for this reason, consumer associations have begun to make themselves felt, in a period in which, among other things, Italians are even recording increases in electricity and gas prices.

The Republic has reported the requests of the National Consumers Union, and there is talk of a request to the government for timely intervention on fuel excise duties. The concern is as follows:

There is a risk of causing inflation to skyrocket with repercussions on the purchasing power of households and, consequently, on consumption.

Raise your voice, then also Assoutenti. The non-profit association for consumer protection talks about an 8.2 billion euro sting. The statements of the group are entrusted to the president Furio Truzzi who insists on the effects of expensive gasoline for the community and does so in anticipation of what he defines as a risk of ” cascading increases in retail prices “, then adding a necessary reference also to the increase in costs for industries and businesses.

Price increase for petrol: 338 euros more per family

Families under stress: the UNC always does the first math, which speaks of a rise in the price that is equivalent, on an annual basis, to € 338 for petrol and € 299 for diesel.

The same values are those released by Codacons, which negatively comments on the new surveys on the price lists released by the Mise.

We, therefore, speak of substantial figures compared to the budget of many families; in fact, gasoline prices do not provide for any proportional system and citizens are already overburdened with expenses.

Taking into account a greater expense for refuelling is therefore not a trivial matter also because these increased prices, as we have seen, add the additional expense of electricity and gas bills.

The case does not seem to touch the political agenda at the moment, and many say they are pessimistic about possible intervention by the executive in this sense. The pressures of the associations in charge are the only light on the issue.
